Bad Weather Lockdown

The weather has finally turned and we are having the first serious blow of the construction season. Work has been halted for the past two days and looks to continue into tomorrow at least. But...it has been a successful season thus far:
The sun set for the first time last week on 14 Feb, it will stop rising around the end of April...

Although we are on hold at the minute, a lot has been achieved so far..

Last Saturday was the 'Folk Night' with some wierd and wonderful acts...

...followed by the charity 'race to the pole'. We are 1600km from the south pole, and we all took part in completing a few laps of the perimeter aiming to attribute 1602km in total

Catch-up

Its been a while - very busy on site now. Had a night in a pyramid tent last night, and a trip to Windy Bay to see the remaining penguins today....

The Pyramid tent (not Glastonbury)

Settling in for a cosy night!! (it got down to -19 Celcius)

Arriving at Windy Bay. Only about 200 of the 7,000 penguins left :(

A lot of the remaining stragglers won't make it

We had a foggy night last week....

Could only just see the construction site through it
